Tyrone
Tyrone is in deep thought about the timing of his next nap.
Tyrone used to live in a sewer drain pipe. A good samaritan from the post office discovered and rescued him and his two siblings. She found each of them safer homes. Tyrone moved into my parents' garage in 2013. He was about 2 months old at the time.
As a kitten, he played and played and played and played and played and slept and ate and played. He spends most of his days exploring his new surroundings. When he ventured outdoors, he fearlessly raced through the yard and climbed trees. In an effort to harness his attack-and-conquer approach to flowers, Mom taught him how to garden properly and to respect the plants. In the evenings, he helped Dad with his woodworking projects. During his first winter, he discovered his true love for snow and plowed through it for fun.
These days, Tyrone has settled in his ways, preferring to stay indoors when it’s cold. He’d rather find a good book or movie and have a nap. In fact, he’d rather be an indoor cat while, he suggests, Walter and Emily can stay outside.
These three housemates actually get along really well. He and Walter have great philosophical discussions, while he and Emily partake a monthly book club. (They are the only members, though Walter is invited to join.) Tyrone is very well read and can rattle off trivia about authors, from Ernest Hemingway to Ta-Nehisi Coates. All three Kitties like to explore the woods during the day and watch movies at night. Dune, The Batman, and CODA are among Tyrone’s favorites.
Some days, he longs for the solitude he used to have before Walter and Emily arrived. No matter how cuddly or crowded it gets, though, it’s better than the sewer, he says. That’s the truth!
The origin of Tyrone’s swirly stripes are a family mystery, and everyone has theories.
